Seven months

Dear Kaan,

You continue to be a source of endless joy to all of my love. Seven months already, how they have flown by.

We are still in Izmir, at home with Elif and Nene. You get lots of attention from all of us and continue to be adored from strangers near and far whenever we leave the house. You are a cuddly, chubby little guy, lit up with sweet giggly baby happiness. No one can resist you.

You really have chubbed up a bit lately. All of a sudden none of your clothes fit you! Your hair is still very light and your skin is fair, almost translucent in parts. Your eyes seem to slowly be moving from grey to hazel. When you are warm, your round little cheeks go pink. It's then, with your cheeks aglow and your eyes twinkling that I think you look most like your daddy.

Lately, you have gotten much more frisky. You used to be very calm, content to sit in my lap and watch what was going on around you. These days though, you want to be set free. You love being on the floor, free to move around and explore. You are so close to crawling, getting up on all fours and getting around by rolling and scootching back and forth on your belly. Not too fast little guy.

There have been some fussy times lately, more than usual for you. I think it's partly growth spurt and part teething pain. You've had some sudden, out of nowhere tears as though you are hurting. At night you sometimes whimper and fuss about a bit, which you didn't use to do. I feel so sad for you when you are sad. Since it's so rare, it's even more heartbreaking. I hope it will pass soon.

Most of the time though, you are our happy, giggling baby. Your smile is so big, you seems to be smiling with his whole body. It is more contagious and more wonderful than anything in the world.

Kaan, my heart bursts at the sight of you. You have expanded the love in our home exponentially. Thanks for being ours.

Love,
Mama and Daddy
